Andrew S Bonci Jr was born and raised in Mission, Kansas and has spent all of his life in the Kansas City Metro Area. Andrew has played viola since he was nine years old and guitar since he was eleven. Andrew is an alum of Shawnee Mission North High School where he graduated with honors in the top ten of his graduating class.
During his time at Shawnee Mission North, Andrew participated in nearly every music opportunity available. Andrew was selected for the Kansas All-District and All-State Honors Orchestras his Sophomore, Junior and Senior years, Serving as Principal Violist during his Senior year. He played viola in the "Shawnee Mission North Strolling Strings" lead by Karen Mchgee-Hensel (now Puckett) all four years at Shawnee and served as Section leader and President of the Orchestra his Senior year. In addition to the Strolling Strings, Andrew accompanied the choir as a soloist and in quartets.
In addition to the orchestra, Andrew also played guitar in the top jazz band all four years under the tutelage of Chad Reed and received the Louis Armstrong recognition for Jazz his Senior year. Andrew also played every musical that Shawnee Mission North put up from Hairspray to Legally Blonde. His Junior year he began playing guitar professionally for musicals. Andrew studied guitar privately with Rod Fleeman.
Currently Andrew is attending the University of Missouri – Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance to study Music Education and Viola Performance. Andrew continues to play guitar and viola professionally with a theater company now known as MTKC with music director Julie Danielson. Now, Andrew is hired by all sorts of people ranging from high schools to churches to play viola, and electric and acoustic guitar. Andrew has also done Studio work with Taylor Avazpour and can be heard on his EP "Freedom" which was released in 2014 and MTKC's "Alumni Anniversary Album."
